Hyaluronic Acid

Hyaluronic acid is a linear polysaccharide built from alternating units of glucuronic acid and N-ectylglucosamine.  It is produced naturally in the human body and is found in connective tissue, blood, and lymph.  In living tissue it serves as a water reservoir and is involved in tissue repair.

Hyaluronidase is an enzyme in the body responsible for the breakdown of hyaluronic acid.  Hyaluronic acid is found in the skin, and its breakdown is associated with signs of aging. Liquid BioCell® which contains hyaluronic acid, inhibits hyaluronidase, thereby preserving the level of hyaluronic acid in the body and improving skin appearance.

It is most effective to take collagen type II orally for easier digestion and absorption. Liquid BioCell® is a naturally-occurring matrix containing hydrolyzed collagen type II and low molecular weight glycosaminoglycans such as chondroitin sulfate and hyaluronic acid. This composition mirrors the composition in human articular cartilage.

Through blood flow, our body will make new collagen, hyaluronic acid and chondroitin sulfate in chondrocytes that are like a regenerating factory. It also stimulates the skin cells and works to increase collagen and HA content.

Over half of the hyaluronic acid found in the body is found in the skin, and degrades in less than a day in the skin. As skin ages, it loses the ability to retain water as HA levels decrease. Water bound to HA is extremely important to skin moisture content, helping to prevent skin aging due to decreased moisture content.
