Why is Xanthan Gum used?

Thank you for your inquiry! We do not use artificial sweeteners in the Trim. Xanthan Gum is a naturally derived sugar-based polymer produced by bacterial fermentation and is commonly used in food, cosmetic, and personal care products as a binder, emulsion stabilizer, emulsifying surfactant, as well as an aqueous viscosity increasing agent. It is used to create a more stable product with improved texture or, in the case of food, “mouth feel.” Modere is not aware of any peer reviewed research discussing concerns about xanthan gum and believe it to be safe as used in Modere’s products. Further, we are aware that there may be some specific concerns with regard to xanthan gum potentially causing allergenic effects where the material is generated using corn-derived products in the fermentation process. We specifically source xanthan gum that does not contain corn products.
