- Per Health Canada regulations, Nutrition Facts are not shown on Natural Health Products. One serving of Trim provides zero grams of sugar. All ingredients are shown on the product label under “Medicinal Ingredients” and “Non-medicinal Ingredients”.
- Health Canada requires specific statements on Natural Health Product labels. Health Canada bases the conjugated linoleic acid and diabetes contraindication on this study:
Moloney F, Yeow TP, Mullen A, Nolan JJ, Roche HM. 2004. Conjugated linoleic acid supplementation, insulin sensitivity, and lipoprotein metabolism in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition 80(4):887-895.
- The study showed that CLA can affect fasting glucose concentrations and insulin sensitivity.
- The Trim formulas in the US and Canada are the same and will have the same sodium values. The products are labeled differently due to different regulations in each market. For US labels, a sodium amount is listed in the Supplement Facts panel when present at a threshold amount. For Canada labels, natural health products don’t require a supplement facts to be listed on the label.
