Q: Will Modere's products clog my pores?
A: Modere’s personal care products have not been tested for comedogenicity. However, the formula has been safety tested using HRIPT (Human Repeat Insult Patch Testing) methodology on a panel of human subjects. Testing concluded that there was no potential for skin sensitization from the product.
To assess product safety, Modere has professional out-of-house testing conducted on skin care formulations before they are released. HRIPT is the industry standard testing to determine the irritation or allergic contact sensitization potential of a product, which is conducted on the skin of a minimum of 50 human subjects.
The six-week testing consists of an induction phase, a challenge phase, and sometimes a verification phase. Although conceptually simple, dermatological patch testing is a complex scientific procedure that requires expertise in both conducting the test and interpreting the results. These tests are overseen by board-certified dermatologists with the help of other scientists and medical professionals.
Modere works with a partner whose testing procedures comply with international criteria and protocol as well as industry standards, and we generally use more than 100 volunteers as subjects on RIPT testing for improved statistical prediction.
