Natural fragrance components and plant extracts can be found in some of our formulas at Modere. While a few Modere products include synthetically produced fragrance components, we are actively working to replace these ingredients with natural alternatives.
Fragrance suppliers are not required to disclose their formulas, which are protected by law as trade secrets. Over the years, we have found that some ingredients contain a very small amount of synthetic fragrance components. Although these components are considered safe in the industry, Modere is committed to using natural ingredients wherever possible. We have already identified and begun to reformulate every one of the products affected, and will be updating the labels as inventory is replenished.
As a member company and part of the advisory board for the Fragrance Creators Association (FCA), Modere has a clear objective to advocate and lobby for transparency and change in the fragrance industry.
The International Fragrance Association (IFRA) is also working to make the industry more transparent and safe. Modere not only complies with EU guidelines and cooperates with the IFRA, we have a safety commitment that exceeds industry standards and avoids other controversial ingredients in alignment with our clean label, graywater safe ingredient paradigm.
Benzisothiazolinone, methylchloroisothiazolinone and methyisothiazolinone are preservatives commonly used in household products to kill bacteria and mold. Modere chooses not to use these ingredients in our personal care formulas because there is some evidence that they can sensitize, and we believe they can only be used safely in rinse-off applications. However, in very small amounts, they work effectively in our household products.
As always, only ingredients that pass our stringent review, quality and safety testing, both in raw form and in finished formulations, are selected for inclusion in our clean label products.
Modere is 100% committed to getting this right, and we deeply appreciate your continued support as we strive to align and advance our live clean message around the globe.
