What is Silicone Dioxide and what is it used for?

Silica, also known as silicon dioxide is one of the most abundant minerals on earth. It is incorporated into almost all living things by virtue of its uptake into plants and into cell walls. 

Silica is found in bones, teeth, skin, connective tissue, glands, hair, nails, and organs just to name a few.  Modere utilizes silica because of its ability to aid in the manufacture of tablets, capsules, and powder formulas directly. 

It is an approved food ingredient and is useful as a processing aid due to its characteristics as a flow agent and moisture absorber to reduce caking and clumping in products.
